Terms of Use — QR Quota
Acceptance
By downloading or using QR Quota, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
What QR Quota is
QR Quota is a tool that helps you organise an association's shared expenses or recurring quotas and generate Swiss QR-bills — one per member — following the Swiss Payment Standards (Implementation Guidelines currently in force). Your association's data stays on your device: there is no account, and no Alpine Lynx server holds your association's data. With the annual plan, my server keeps only your invite codes and Apple's subscription number (see the Privacy Policy). By default nothing goes out without you: you review each QR-bill before you send it. If you switch on automatic sending for a recurring expense report (a Pro feature), you are instructing QR Quota to generate and email that report on its send date, from your own email account, the next time you open the app.
What QR Quota is not
- It is not a bank, a payment provider, or a money-transmission service. It does not move money, hold funds, or confirm that a payment has actually arrived — marking a charge "paid" is something you do by hand, after checking your bank account.
- It is not an accounting, tax or legal service, and it gives no financial, tax or legal advice. QR Quota organises and informs; decisions and their consequences are yours.
- It does not verify the identity of your association's members or the accuracy of the account details you enter. You are responsible for checking that the IBAN or QR-IBAN, the addresses and the amounts you enter are correct before sending a QR-bill.
Your responsibilities
As the person using QR Quota to collect money on behalf of an association, you are responsible for having the association's agreement to be charged, for the accuracy of the amounts and the split, and for how you use any data (names, addresses, amounts) you enter about other people. Treat your device and any backups with the same care you would give a paper ledger.
Sending from your own email account
QR Quota can send the QR-bills through your own email account instead of handing them to another app. It is optional, you set it up yourself, and you can disconnect it at any time.
- You start every send. Connecting an account changes who delivers the message, not who decides. Unless you switch on automatic sending for a recurring expense report, the app sends nothing on its own: you review the list of members and the addresses, and each message leaves when you tap send. With automatic sending on, that report goes out on its send date the next time you open the app, still from your account — and you can switch it off at any time.
- Your own association only. Use sending for QR-bills and messages to the members of an association you actually collect for, and who have a reason to hear from you. No mailing lists, no marketing, no spam — and always within the law that applies to you.
- Your provider's rules apply. Messages go from your device straight to your email provider and travel under that provider's terms and privacy policy. There is no Alpine Lynx server in between and I never see them. If your provider limits or blocks your sending, that is between you and them.
Subscriptions and payments
QR Quota offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription (weekly or annual), described on the pricing page. Pro is also available as a one-time purchase: you pay once and nothing renews. Subscriptions and the one-time purchase are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, under Apple's Media Services Terms. Pricing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled through your Apple ID account settings — I do not process payments or see your payment details directly.
Availability
Because QR Quota keeps your data on your device, I cannot guarantee against data loss from a lost, stolen, reset or damaged device. Back up your device regularly (iCloud or your own backup routine) — this is the only way to recover your associations and history if something happens to the device.
Acceptable use
Don't use QR Quota to collect money for anything unlawful, or to misrepresent who is collecting or why. Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app outside of the App Store.
Limitation of liability
QR Quota is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by Swiss law, Alpine Lynx is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for losses arising from incorrect data you entered, a device you didn't back up, or a payment made or missed outside the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it.
Changes
I may update these terms as the app evolves. The new version will be published on this page with a new effective date; material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Switzerland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have where you live.
